Violinist Nicholas Kitchen will illuminate Bach’s solo violin works in this concert at Grand View Barn in Jaffrey. Kitchen’s eloquence as a speaker and his penetrating mastery of the violin will make this an absorbing event for those who want to get to know Bach’s masterpieces on a deeper level. Viewing a projection of the original manuscript as Kitchen plays will help the audience experience the music from the inside out.
EARLY EVENIONG WITH THE BORROMEO
The Borromeo String Quartet offers listeners a peek under the hood, and a prelude to their upcoming performance of Bela Bartók's complete Quartets. They will discuss and play excerpts from the composer's manuscripts, which they project on their laptop "music stands." This should provoke fascinating conversation about Bartók's composing methods, his first and subsequent thoughts about particular passages, and what constitutes a definitive version of musical works.
The Borromeo String Quartet travels through all six Bartók masterworks in a single evening.
