Lecture by Nicholas Kitchen on the manuscripts of Beethoven

BostonMassachusettsUSA
New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall

This event is part of the Conference "REFRAMING BEETHOVEN" hosted by the Boston University Center for Beethoven Research March 24-March 27. This event is presented jointly by the Center for Beethoven Research and the New England Conservatory of Music.

Nicholas Kitchen will guide the audience through the music of Beethoven works Opp. 90, 92,93, 95, 96 and 97 paying special attention to the expression markings as they are seen in his autograph manuscripts.  Nicholas Kitchen has called attention to a much wider variety of expression marks used in Beethoven's manuscripts that are not shown in printed edition, and this event will show through performance the way these marks can be inspiring in shaping the expression of the music.
